Abilene Guild for Natural Living

by admin on February 2, 2010

agnl-logo-2It’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve blogged. I guess I’m just feeling a little blah. As with almost everyone I think, winter just does that to me. But I do want to take a moment to share something exciting I’ve been working on.

I was spending a normal afternoon out with my friends, who I love dearly, but who simply do not understand my lifestyle. But they are quite tolerant of my views and comments, and I love them for that. For some reason on that day I become aware that although I am constantly surrounded by people I love and who love me, I can’t help but feel lonely. I didn’t, and still don’t, know a single person who thinks and has the same beliefs that I do.

But that will all change on Thursday.

You see, I took a random shot in the dark. I made a flyer. It simply outlined some of my beliefs and natural living practices and had a call for action. If you are like me, it said, contact me!

I felt a little like those guys who sit around sending morse code out into space. I didn’t know if anyone like me actually existed in Abilene.

I first asked my three closest friends who live in Abilene if they knew of anyone who might be interested. One said she might know two people. So I emailed the flyer to her, and she sent it to my two prospects.

Something kind of amazing happened after that. Obviously, those two people forwarded it to people they knew, who forwarded it to people who they knew, because within the next week I’d been contacted by twelve people, all eager to get together.

This Thursday is our first meeting and I couldn’t be more excited!

I named the group the Abilene Guild for Natural Living. I don’t know that I’m in love with the Guild part, but everything else I could think of made the initials be AANL, and I certainly didn’t want to be referred to as the anal group! I’m sure, if these people are like me, they get that enough, haha.

So, if you live in Abilene, Texas area and into all things natural living, please email me at me@communicatingcauses.com and I’d love to send you more information.

Looking forward to Thursday!

YAYAYAYAYAYAAYYAAAAA! I’m super happy for you and a little jealous too. I love the logo. I love the idea of a Guild because it seems inherently old-fashioned in a really cool way. And since Guilds basically make stuff, it’s like you are living intentionally to “make” a certain life for you and your families.
