I Have Not Washed My Face in Over A Month

by admin on January 5, 2011

If you really want to gross someone out, tell them you haven’t washed your face in a month and a half. You may think I’m gross, but that’s exactly what I’ve done. Furthermore, I haven’t toned it, masked it, lotioned it, or any other part of a 4-step-programmed it.

I didn’t have horrible acne or anything, but I almost never had completely clear skin on any given day. Even though my skin problems weren’t as drastic as many, I wanted to have clear, healthy skin. Was that too much to ask?

One day I was looking at some old photos in a yearbook from the 1930s. Every single person photographed had beautiful skin. Have you ever noticed that? The close-up portraits of the “class favorites” and “prom queens” where flawless. I started wondering why it was possible for every single girl in the entire yearbook to have flawless skin in a pre-photoshop world. All they would have used is a mild soap at the most.

Then, I ran into several places in all my natural-living research that said skin can be healthy and balance itself if you just let it alone.

It was those two discoveries that made me decide to stop washing and see what happened. I’ve had my fair share of 4-step skin programs in my life, so believe me it was difficult at first. So for a month and a half now, the only thing that has touched my face is an exfoliating cloth with pure water on it.

The results? Well, I can honestly say my skin is better! Not a ton better, and not 1930s-portrait better, but definitely better. It certainly isn’t any worse. Not to mention the time and money I’ve saved! I don’t think I’ll ever spend $80 on one of those programs ever again!

I really feel like I’m on the right track. I feel like if I continue to work on eating right and continue to NOT wash my face, that I’ll get to my dream point of not wearing makeup. But for right now, a little BareMinerals powdered foundation is all I need!

I’ve never been a face-washer. I think drinking lots of water, exercising, and expecting a little breakout once a month is the best approach. :)

My brother has terrible hygeine and very little acne and I never thought it was fair because my skin was always so bad. Hmmm….

hi sheila, stopped by to see what’s going on in your world today… =)

loved this post! first of all it’s just funny. i mean, what woman in the USofA does not wash her face?!

but i thought while i was here, i would go ahead and confess… i’ve stopped washing my face too. in fact i really don’t bath a whole lot either, at least not in the winter, but that’s a whole nother post. =)

my face gets the water and washcloth treatment (on days that i actually wash it). and sometimes if i need a good degrimer i will splurge and actually wash with baking soda. it’s a wonderful exfoliant but you can’t use it a lot or it will dry your face out.

usually on a daily basis (but not always as some days i’m only in the bathroom long enough to brush my hair and brush my teeth) my face gets the ultimate glamour treatment… organic extra-virgin coconut oil. just a dab ul do ya. i read on mercola one time that you should never put anything on your skin that you wouldn’t put in your mouth. made sense to me since the skin is the largest organ in our body and delivers things directly to our bloodstream.

there are so many amazing benefits to coconut oil for the whole body, but for the face in particular check out these qualities: antimicrobial, antioxidant, antifungal, antibacterial, antiviral, mosturizing and soothing. i also use it as an overall body moisturizer (when i have time or really dry skin) and have especially seen good results with my daughter’s skin issues. (we also use a lot more of it in our diet now.)

some people think coconut oil is the wonder cure for everything (that or ACV) and they’re are probably on to something with both products. lots of skin-care products have coconut oil in them, but i don’t want coconut oil plus… just give it to me straight, thank you very much. it’s something natural, made by God, so it doesn’t need improvement!

Oooo..I’ve been using coconut oil on my body as a lotion for a while now, but for some reason I haven’t tried it on my face. I’m totally going to now–your skin is gorgeous!

My mother and I have never been big face washers- every time I tried one of those “four step processes” I got breakouts- so I would give them up- then one day my mom and I were talking about it and we discovered that nither one of us were big into face washing- after living together over 18 years we never talked about this with each other? now I wanna tell everyone! Especially my Hubby who has acne.
